Typically, all houses hit on 16, and then do one of two things:
Hit on soft 17
or
Stay on Soft 17.
The rest of the rules typically apply to the players
(Whether or not they allow double-downs on any 2 cards, or just on 10’s and 11’s, whether or not you can re-split, whether or not you can double after splitting, how many cards you are dealt when you split aces, and if you can resplit them, etc etc)
Each minor variant changes the house edge %.http://wizardofodds.com/blackjack

There are many ways of playing BJ. In order to obtain a good game security the Casinos are using up to 8 deck of cards. As you are interested for a friendly game I will recommend you the one deck game. But make sure to quickly shuffle the cards after each game, as your smart friends might remember how many big cards or Aces came out and take advantage of that. See “basic strategies” and “card counting” on internet.
OK, now back to your question. The answer to your question is easy at first see – the house will always hit the 16 and will stay with 17 or above.
Please remember,if the house has an ACE showing to ask the players for insurance.
The insurance is always paying twice the amount insured(can’t be more than half of the bet).
When a player has BJ(two cards 21) you have to pay him 1 time and a half of his bet amount, but make sure to finnish your hand before paying him. If you got BJ, than it’s a push.(no pay no take)
Hope this is enough!
